Robot Fleets Obey a New Commander!
New Multi-Robot MobileEyes
from MobileRobots Inc Controls Robotic Teams
Pittsburgh, PA,
June 20, 2006 Today from
ROBOBusiness Conference & Expo
2006, MobileRobots Inc announces
Multi-Robot
MobileEyesTM
software, designed to
control fleets of robots in
factories, offices, hospitals,
and clean-rooms. Security
officers, factory managers, and
other operators are able to
monitor sensor readings, control
cameras, and send any robot with
Multi-Robot MobileEyes on a
mission.
Multi-Robot
MobileEyes handles most indoor
robotic delivery, patrol,
monitoring, and inspection
tasks.
A user first drives a robot with
a joystick around a workspace to
create a map. This map, along
with goals, routes, and robot
tasks, can be downloaded
automatically onto every robot
in the fleet. A security officer
wishing to monitor radiation in
a warehouse on the other side of
the world, or investigate an
electrical brownout in corporate
headquarters, can monitor the
situation within the MobileEyes
interface.
Factory robots make pick-ups from other
equipment and security robots
respond to alarms; both types of
robots typically obey building
or factory control software. In
tandem with these larger
systems, operators use
Multi-Robot MobileEyes to
monitor robots and receive
notification if particular robot
needs assistance. If necessary,
a robot can be tele-operated
manually.
We find customers test one or
two robots, says MobileRobots
Inc CEO Jeanne Dietsch. Once
they recognize the quick
payback, these customers soon
want fleets of robots. We built
Multi-Robot MobileEyes for these
customers.
Multi-Robot MobileEyes also
supports simulated robots,
awarding engineers planning a
manufacturing operation the
ability to test an environment
with more robots than they
actually have available.
Multi-Robot MobileEyes is part
of MobileRobots Advanced
Robotics Control System (ARCS)
that enables machines to know
their precise location, and to
accurately plan a path towards a
goal. MobileRobots manufactures
PatrolBotTM and
MapperBotTM robots
that use the ARCSinsideTM
technology. MobileRobots
technology partner RMT Robotics
of Canada manufactures the ADAM
AGVTM with ARCSinside
designed for factory use. Robots
with ARCSinside are also
available from Cypress Computer
Systems, LLC and Penobscot Bay
Media, LLC.
